San Antonio native Norah O’Donnell to moderate VP debate
Vice presidential candidates Tim Walz and J.D. Vance will go head-to-head for the first time in a debate exactly five weeks ahead of election day. The world will be watching when CBS News goes live with the debate on Tuesday, October 1, and a San Antonio native will be one of the two moderators.
The debate will be the first and last time that Democrat Tim Walz and Republican J.D. Vance will face each other before the 2024 presidential election on November 5. In Texas, voters have until October 7 to register to vote in the presidential election.
San Antonio’s Norah O’Donnell, who is the “CBS Evening News” anchor and managing editor at CBS News, will moderate the debate alongside “Face the Nation” moderator and chief foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan when CBS hosts the debate in New York City on Tuesday. The MacArthur High School graduate announced in July she would be stepping away from the anchor desk to become a senior correspondent for CBS News.
CBS News released the rules of the debate on Monday, September 30. The incumbent party, meaning Walz, will be introduced first and stand on the left side of the stage (butKEN be viewed to the right on TV screens).
