Is Verizon down? More than 100K users report issues with calls, texting
Verizon customers took to social media on Monday, September 30, to report an issue with calls and texts. More than 100,000 users reports were submitted to DownDectector.com at the time of writing, while a growing, yet smaller, number of reports have also been submitted for AT&T, T-Mobile and US Cellular services.
Spikes in Google searches for outages in Texas, Michigan, Utah, California, and other states have been recorded in the last hour, including questions about why iPhones are stuck in SOS mode. Some users on social media report being able to use their 5G home internet, but say they do not have access to cellular services.
The Verizon “check network status” page appears to be overloaded and is not operating as it should, including a failure for the page to load the “use my location” function. Verizon’s Support social media pages have not issued an official statement on the reported outage, but the account on X/Twitter has been replying to posts asking customers to send them a DM for assistance.
