Major crash investigation shuts down San Antonio’s Highway 281

A reported deadly crash has shut down a busy San Antonio road Friday morning. According to traffic monitoring site SigAlert, the crash was reported just before 6:30 a.m. on November 22 off Roosevelt Avenue near Highway 281 and South Flores, just south of Loop 410. KSAT reports three people were killed in the crash. They say a fourth person was taken to a nearby hospital.

Traffic maps from SigAlert and the Texas Department of Transportation show heavy congestion in the area, as investigators comb through the scene of the crash. Vehicles in the area are moving as slow as 15 miles per hour, SigAlert reports. Expect delays if this is your route to work or school this morning. If possible, drivers are urged to find an alternative route.

KSAT also reports the crash involves an alleged hit-and-run driver. Police told KSAT at the scene of the crash that Highway 281 is expected to be closed for several hours as they investigate. MySA has reached out to the San Antonio Police Department for more information.

This is a developing story and will be updated as new information comes in.
