A 30-year-old man was found dead in the Alamo Ranch area of Bexar County on Monday afternoon, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Tomas Calavera Jr. was discovered with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Calavera’s father was contacted to check on him at his son’s home on Gunsight Pass and Rimrock Springs, according to BCSO.
Deputies later found Calavera dead inside a closet.
One neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, described the scene as unsettling. “It’s so scary to be here in this area,” the neighbor said. She added that she was shocked to learn details of the death and that foul play was suspected. “It’s horrible, like it’s scary that you live close to that house,” she added.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office contacted BCSO and asked them to check on the Calavera’s home.
According to an arrest affidavit, authorities arrested Calavera’s common-law wife, Faith Paige Goynes, in connection with his death.
“This is so unexpected,” said the neighbor who asked to remain anonymous.
BCSO said the investigation is ongoing, and they have no clear motive yet.
