I want to speak to the heart of the one who waits on God. To the one who feels the tension between the dreams in their heart and the trials in their life. This is a timely word for those who have prayed, planned, and persisted, yet find themselves in a season of uncertainty. Let us lean into the wisdom of God and uncover the truth of His strategic blessings—a truth that declares that His hand is upon you, guiding your steps, even when it seems like nothing is working in your favor.
The writer of Proverbs reminds us in Proverbs 16:9, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” This verse encapsulates the divine mystery of how God works. You may have plans—dreams, ambitions, and ideas that burn in your soul—but it is God who orchestrates the path to fulfill them. And His path, beloved, is always more advanced, more intricate, and more purposeful than anything you could imagine.
Let us consider the story of Joseph, the dreamer, the one favored by his father, adorned with a coat of many colors. That coat wasn’t just fabric; it was a symbol of God’s hand upon his life, a prophetic declaration of the favor and authority that would one day rest on him. But as we know, favor often invites opposition.
Joseph’s own brothers conspired against him, stripping him of his coat and throwing him into a pit. From the pit, he was sold into slavery. From slavery, he was wrongfully imprisoned. At each turn, it seemed as though God’s promises were being destroyed. But let me tell you this: no man, no circumstance, no betrayal, and no delay can cancel what God has decreed over your life.
Even in the pit, God’s hand was on Joseph. Even in the prison, God’s favor was upon him. Why? Because God’s plan wasn’t limited by man’s schemes. The very steps that looked like setbacks were divinely designed to lead Joseph to the palace. What seemed like detours were, in fact, the necessary roads to fulfill his destiny.
When Joseph finally stood before Pharaoh and interpreted the dream that saved a nation, he was able to look back over his life and declare to his brothers in Genesis 50:20, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
Beloved, this is the essence of God’s strategic blessings. What looks like delay is God aligning the details. What feels like rejection is His redirection. What seems like silence is Him speaking to the storm on your behalf. You see, His plans are not just for your benefit—they are for His glory and the blessing of others.
You may feel like Joseph today, stripped of your “coat,” abandoned in a pit, or trapped in a season that doesn’t make sense. But know this: God’s hand is still on you. His favor is still at work. The coat of many colors wasn’t just a garment—it was an outward sign of an inward calling. And that calling cannot be removed, no matter how fierce the opposition.
So, I encourage you to wait on God. Not with frustration, but with faith. Not with despair, but with expectation. Because God’s plan for your life is like a masterful tapestry. While you see the tangled threads on the underside, He sees the completed picture on the other side. His timing is perfect, His methods are flawless, and His blessings are strategic.
Isaiah 40:31 declares, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Your waiting is not in vain. Your waiting is producing something far greater than you can imagine—a faith that cannot be shaken, a testimony that cannot be silenced, and a blessing that cannot be stolen.
As I close, remember this: You may plan your way, but God is directing your steps. Trust the Director. His script is greater than your outline. His purpose is deeper than your understanding. Like Joseph, you may be walking through the pit today, but God’s hand is on you, and the palace is in your future. Hold fast, beloved. Your story is being written by the Author and Finisher of your faith, and His strategic blessings will prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that His hand is upon you.
