At about 10:15 p.m., firefighters found several trash spot fires on the first floor of a building located in the 400 block of North Medina.
Authorities say the fire started on the third floor of one of the buildings. That building has since been evacuated.
The mother used her two children's Texas birth certificates and social security cards in the smuggling attempt.
